Default U Joints?

What are the symtoms of U goings going bad?

I got stuck in 3 ft of snow this weekend and had alot of "poping" going on. Sounded like rivits breaking, or bolts snapping or somthing loud.

Once I got it out, it drives fine and no poping in 4wd now.

usually when ujoints are going bad you'll get vibes.

do you have a 231? if so, it may have been your chain making the "popping" sound.

I do have a 231, and I bet thats what it was. I've been noticing some average grinding noise in 4x4 anyway, I bet the transfer case needs rebuilt this summer.
