U Joints?

What are the symtoms of U goings going bad?
I got stuck in 3 ft of snow this weekend and had alot of "poping" going on. Sounded like rivits breaking, or bolts snapping or somthing loud.
Once I got it out, it drives fine and no poping in 4wd now.

I do have a 231, and I bet thats what it was. I've been noticing some average grinding noise in 4x4 anyway, I bet the transfer case needs rebuilt this summer.

yup, popping in 4wd would be your front axle shaft u-joints.
i've changed probably a dozen in the last month or so, on other peoples jeeps. haha
