Default U joint replacement!!

So I've been getting this kind of squeaky wobbly sound upon dead stop acceleration. I took her to shop where the gentleman immediately stated that my u joints were going bad and quoted me $60 to replace both of them. Seems really cheap, is this an easy one to do? I don't have a lot of experience wrenching but am very eager to learn. Any writesups on doing this?

I'd have the mechanic do this because it requires pressing. I had a mechanic do this too for my jeep last year.

I asked the dude if it was something I could do myself and he said that I could try and if I mess it up the parts only like ten bucks so I wouldn't be out much haha and they do it for 60 still. Though that was kinda funny

I would imagine a c clamp is one of those big clamps that looks like a c? Know o any write ups on it? I always got a hard time finding jack with the search on this place

Yeah it's really not bad. I had a stubborn one on my old wrangler and I ended up putting the yoke on a block of wood and hammering a socket through one side of it with a big hammer. If you run into a problem the people at your local advance auto would probably be able to help you out. You could even rent the specific tool used for u joints from them

Change them for $60? Heck, I'd go get a cup of coffee while I wait, lol. That's dirt cheap.

For sure! And a good way to learn something new and useful too. But man...$60 for doing both is a good price, esp. if it includes parts. (I can be pretty lazy if the price is right ha ha)
