Turn signal issues
Hello, I have a 2001 xj and I've scoured through some threads but can't seem to find a fix. My left turn signal starts slow for a few clicks and then speeds up. The lights are dim but I have changed both bulbs. Cleaned the grounds (g106) and got no change. When I turn on the headlights the left turn signal arrow comes on dimly, and when I turn the high beams on it becomes fully lit and stays on. Turn signal also doesn't work when high beams are on. And ideas what this might be? Additionally my windshield washer pump doesn't work even though I just replaced it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Everything you describe suggests a bad ground.
I would start at the socket & work back. Could be something as simple as a dirty/corroded socket (can't be more specific 'cos don't what year we're dealing with). However, there are some shortcuts, if the parking light works fine, the problems not likely to be at the front (as they have a common ground). The same largely true at the back, although there is a short ground wire from the socket to the harness. Either way, take a wire direct from the sockets to a known good ground, if that cures the fault, you know where the problem is.
In view of what you say about the headlights. it might just be that's where the bad ground is, & the current's returning via the turn signal.

Go check out this video where I found my ground problem. Other videos show component replacement in attempts to fix my electrical gremlin issues.
Good luck,
