Default Turn heater on, dash lights come on an door chimes.

So I keep having this bug, an i can't figure it out.

I start the jeep with the light off. Turn the heater on an the dash lights turn on. If the doors are open it will chime an the lights will turn on for the heater cpntrols. Turn the heater off an all the lights shut off. Heater also doesn't work.

I've replaced my dash, heater switch pannel an heater relay behind the glove box.

Any ideas ?

Let's refresh the grounds. Especially the one under the drivers side kick plate and above the hood release cable.

Haha that's my fault! 88 was my old jeep years ago. Yeah its a 98. It's got a crazy bug. I did a new cluster along with the pin connection update in the back of the dash. Didn't fix anything...

Like I said I turn the heater on an al the lights light up every where like I turn the head lights on. Also the brights an both blinker emblems turn on, an the gagues it self shut down. Turn the heater off an lights shut off an gagues come back to life.

No f ING clue.

I've checked all the grounds I could find. Looked best as I could for shorts with out ripping the whole dash out.

What about the fuse box, any chance it might be wet or there's a short there?

That's my next place. Over the summer when it was hot out everything worker perfect. No its cold it doesn't work. I've been using a heat gun on the fuse panel seeing if it works. Going to heat it back up an check it out.

Tired taking it out haha its a pain with the heater box there

Is there an aftermarket stereo in there? I have seen people do some pretty dumb stuff wiring those up causing all kinds of issues.

Yeah it has one. I've taken it out an still same problem. I have noticed that sometimes I'll start it up, no power to stereo or windows. Shut it down then restart an all works. I think I'm going to buy a new jeep an swap everything over.

hmmmm......ignition switch maybe? They're cheap

Never mind, re-read this thread.

I'm sorry but I am still going to say grounds or some defective wiring / fuse box.
