It's a NP242
Your trans pan gasket need changing
Your front driveshaft is a Double-Cardan style
Your fan shroud is missing
The front steering and suspension parts could use some grease
You have a closed cooling system
It's a 90, so it's a Renix-era XJ
You have about $0.64 in change
And nice cigars.

The D30 ain't bad, everyone usually upgrades the D35 to the Chrys. 8.25 or a D44. I never had problems with the Double-Cardan set up, and I absolutely love my 242 (I have the same exact XJ, but a '92 with tan leather.). Valve cover gaskets are simple, and a nice way to get greasy and dirty, and familiarize yourself with your XJ. The rear end gasket seepage and the trans gasket will be fixed when you change your fluids. The shroud you should be able to find on here, or tag along with Stryker on one of his JY expeditions... Grease the front end.
The tune up and the fluid changes are simple, prob. only take around 2 hours for all of it.
I love my Jeeps, they both have the D30/D35 combo, but one has a 231, the other a 242, and never have had a driveline problem on either. The only issue I ran into were overheating/heating problems, but I have a different era of Jeep, I'm not sure if the Renix ones have that problem too. That, and mine seem to love eating brake pads.
I like it, it's a nice looking XJ, mine isn't that nice on the outside, it's got the cancer. I'd just check out the rockers and the quarters for rust underneath, that's the only issue I have on my '92.
Oh, and water pumps last about 100,000 miles, which means it'll go through 3 or 4 in it's life. lol

It just takes a bunch of time.
I'd so be on that tune-up/fluid change if I was closer, but I know theres a few guys in KY, so grab a case and grill up some brats and I bet they'll hop on it...
