Default Tube is cut in half

On my XJ theres a hose coming from the pumpkin on the front axle that is split in half. Should i be concerned about it or just replace it whenever. Im worried that some of the oil could come out or something could get in to contaminate it. I dont wheel that often my jeeps a road warrior now so im not too worried.

Is the hose just broke or the fitting on the pumkin. Thats the breather line. And yes you want to fix it. The hose need to run up as high as you can get it.

My breather hose runs to the top of the firewall on drivers side with a small vent on top.
