Default Tube from back to front - what is it

00 xj 0- there is a tube running from the rear of the vehicle to the front with the gas line and brakes (along driver side). About an inch in diameter. Comes up the fire wall and curves a bit. No idea what it goes to. Any idea?

Description is a bit vague. Pics would help, but im guessing its a fuel vapor line. Is it connected at either end?

That should be the EVAP Leak Detection Pump tube.

Your year XJ should have a LDP.

It's 5/8" dia.

Went to the junk yard today for a couple parts and saw it on that jeep. Looks like it crosses over from the driver to passenger side of the engine bay and is plugged. What does it do? Why does it go all the way up to the front of vehicle if its just plugged?

Looks like someone removed your LDP. But there is a chance that if your XJ is not California Emission compliant it may have never had an LDP. In any case, without LDP that large tube will terminate on the passenger side firewall and be capped.

There should be a white decal on your driver's side firewall that shows your emissions vacuum system routing. If it shows an LDP someone has removed it. It also states if the Jeep is California compliant.
