Does anyone know where I can find this dash piece? I've searched all over the web and tried a dealership. But no luck. I'm convinced I can get anything from the stealership if I need, but that would require the guy working the counter to have half a brain.
When I got my jeep the previous owner had cut this piece up to make it house a light for a no longer working security system. i'd like to make a switch panel out of it.
So any help finding this piece or even a decent switch panel to mount elsewhere (maybe you have one that you'd recommend) would be appreciated!
I outlined the piece in red, borrowed the main pic form a thread on CF so thanks to the rightful owner of the pic.

your local junk yard
Auto Salvage and Recycling Yard as I was once corrected when I said "junk yard". That part is common on most XJ models which is screwed in place behind the dash bazel. Of course this simple part may be almost just as expensive as the "Stealership". I sometimes find the used part is only a few dollars less than a new part at some yards. The toughest part is getting the dash out behind the steering wheel as it is so tight between the steering wheel and the top of the dash pad. It always seems you will break the plastic dash bezel. Just work it out gently and it will come out. The older models from the late 80's had a digital clock in that blank area. There may even be a cable for it behind the cover.

You have a functioning AC? You might want to reconsider installing switches in there, they would be too deep and you'd need to cut out a section of the AC ducting.

There is enough room for normal switches but they would cut it close, I was able to find some shorter switches at Autozone that would work but I need the panel first.

If you found shallower switches as stated you just may be good to go. Wish i had a spare panel lying around for ya..
