Trying to figure something out
I just bought a 97 cherokee XJ. I may be overthinking this but it doesnt seem right. I could be driving at any speed and my RPM stay consistent with giving it gas. As soon as I let off the gas, at any speed, the RPMS drop to 1000 no matter the speed. Is this a problem or normal for the jeep?

Why wouldn't they come down if your not on the gas anymore? All my vehicles do that.
unless I'm too tired to understand what I'm reading, I'm gonna go with its normal haha.

That is weird. I assume you have an automatic trans? I know going down the interstate my RPMs are around 2500 while on the gas, and drop to around 2000-2200 when not. I am interested to know what you've got going on.
