Default trunk doesnt stay up

my trunk doesnt stay up when i open it. I don't really know the things that hold it up ( hydraulic shock things ) but is there a way for me to fix em or should i just buy new ones. would it be better to buy used-parted out ones? I'm clueless here haha

I got two brand new ones two years ago for 32$. They are called hatch struts. You can find them in a junkyard or search around on the internet to find a pair you like.

Mine is strange as well. It feels like when I let the car warm up the hatch stays up, but if the car is cold then it wont stay up.

The gas has leaked out (high pressure nitrogen)
You'll need to get some new ones.
They cost around $16-$20 each if I remember correctly.
I bought 2 new ones for mine, and the 1st time I opened my hatch it nearly bashed me in the mouth it opened so fast!

Just hit up your local Auto Zone. They are about $25 each and worth every penny!

Stay away from the Strongarm brand. They are garbage and do not work. The ball sockets are plastic and the metal clips bend. Go to RockAuto.com and order the Monroe hatch struts. The ball sockets are metal and the locking pins are the same as the factory installed ones. They are OE replacements and work PERFECTLY.

This is usually a sign they're on their way out, along with when the get to the point of still holding, but you have to help push the liftgate up all the way. Mine were good all summer, then started getting worse as the weather turned cold. I put a new set on and they work good once again.

I agree with everyone else buy the new ones since any used ones will probably be in the same shape yours are in.
