I did the shocks. It wouldn't hurt to check the bearings you mentioned again. In addition to replacing the leafs soon, I thought about taking it to a tranny shop to check the flex plate (i'm just a newb as far as auto mechanics), so maybe I missed something on that. I know when I did it, I took off the cover on the back of the bell housing (it was like 2 pieces but I only took off the lower one and even that I couldn't get off all the way because the exhaust was blocking the bolt from coming out all the way). When I was in there, I didn't make a "check mark" to gauge how far I rotated the flywheel to check each of the bolts, but I could swear there were only 4 bolts and I know from reading that there's supposed to be 6. Thus the reason I think I didn't check that correctly.

As far as the axle, I did have someone follow me (my mechanic) and he didn't note any movement or wobble. Yeah......I know....I thought about the frame. It doesn't look bent or cracked (it looks like it tracking correctly from the rear). With the window open I do hear a wub wub wub coming from the tires, but can't tell front or rear.

Now when I first got the truck I took it to a Jeep JY/Repair place. He said the R rear axle shaft was bent. I payed him 150.00 with parts to install a used one (I'm a newb now, but I was oblivious then :-) After he did the work it didn't feel much better, so that made me wonder if he actually did replace it, but like I said, my buddy the mechanic said he can't see the rear tires vibrating or wobbling.

Sorry for the long reply but you asked

If the driveshaft is a two piece unit with a slip yoke anywhere in the shaft, the phasing must be correct or you may have vibration problems.

It's a vibration. It starts around 68 and it kind of flattens out a little at about 78. I feel ridiculous crying my Jeep won't drive steady at "racing" speeds, but even my crappy 91 would do 85 without vibrating. Something is defiantly not right with this truck and I can't find it. It's vibrates more than an old lady doing 10 cups of strong coffee.

That's the perfect term. I'm an electrician so I definitely understand phase. How would you fix it? Try each combination until you get it?

problems can have more than one thing that may cause them youve done every thing that a automotive shop would do to try and fix the prob like a breaker that keep poping could be breaker or switch or light but then every once in a while you find a dead rat in the attic that chewd thru the romex and shorted two wires together id check for play in the bearing

I just had it happen last week. Had vibes with 2" added lift, pulled rear driveshaft to test drive and sure enough vibe gone so I figured, ok, sye time. Put the driveshaft back in (didn't mark anythng coming out because I always thought it was my dad's old wives tale) and I have no vibe. Still gonna do the sye but it's smooth now.

Well that's all I need to hear. I suspected this once before on a 91 that had a persistent vibe (I probably stupided myself into that fix) but I'm going to try to be a little more scientific this time while I'm rotating the DS around this weekend. The more I think about it, the more I think I might be on to something.

I'll let y'all know

finally got back into town, took the jeep out since I really didn't have time after that last batch of work, still no vibes at any speed and all I did was put it back in out of phase from where it was at the tc end. All of which means I can start on everything except the sye, gonna do leaf pack, control arm drop and hd tie rod then an optima batt. Gonna be a busy day tomorrow.
