Default Trouble Starting

96 xj noticed whenever i drive it for a long time shut it off and come back to it doesn't wanna start it just cracks. First time let it fit for about a couple hours came back and no problem. Tonight was driving stop sit for 2 hours was fine when went back drove about 35 miles sat went inside for 30 minutes came out jeep wouldn't start. Popped the hood friend sprayed it with starter fluid and it started back up drove it home maybe 10 miles parked tired starting it to see if it works and nothing. So pretty much when i drive it for long it doesn't wanna start back up. Any ideas?

Fuel issue maybe?
Next time it won't start, listen for a humming sound from the back of the jeep when the key is ON. That sound would be the fuel pump running.

My friend said maybe the fuel pump is on its way out and it's getting hot and not wanting to start till cooled down. I really don't know just annoying.

Could be your starter. Mine had a similar problem. Started fine cold but when I shut off and tried to restart nothing. How does the starter look? Gummed up with oil? Wouldn't hurt to take it out and clean up all the connections or take it apart and clean it up if it looked gummed up with oil.

Worth a shot. Worked for me and all it costs is a bottle of CRC Lectra-motive cleaner and an hour or two.

Not the starter thing is brand new couple months old. When it has trouble starting cracks just fine I don't know if I said this already but last time I had this problem my friend sprayed starter fluid in my air filer ( have like a cold air intake ) and it started right up. My dad thinks maybe guild filter? Not really sure it's a cheap fix so ill try that first doesn't hurt.

If you think you have a fuel problem. The first thing you need to do is verify your fuel pressure at the fuel rail with a mechanical pressure gauge.

ok update if anyone cares haha. Well took it for a drive last night about an hour of driving 35ish miles to the point where i can get the problem of not starting so i could test some stuff see whats wrong. My buddy said maybe its the cam position sensor well played with the wire while someone tired to started it nothing. Brought a fuel pressure gauge tested that pressure is good about 40-50 range. Went in the jeep turned the key without starting it 3 or 4 times 4 second wait in between each turn and it started right up let it run for about 2 mintues shut it off repeated the turning of the key and started fine. Think maybe its a fuel injector.
