Default Trouble shifting into 2nd gear and higher, drive, reverse

Okay guys! I'm truly stumped. I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee sport 4wd in line 6 4.0 L. I'm having trouble shifting into higher gears (2nd and 3rd) It drives fine but then after about 10 min into the ride it just goes dead. You put your foot on the gas and my RPMs just fly up without the jeep actually going anywhere. It acts like the transmission slipped. So I put it in park, shut it off and turn it back on. Runs fine. Shifts into drive, reverse etc. seems like it resets it's self, like the PCM is bad or something. But then as soon as I drive it for a minute, it starts doing it again. Shut it off, restart it, shift into drive and it takes off. Anyone have any suggestions?

Huh. My moms Lexus SUV did something very similar a while ago and we had to have the transmission rebuilt. It sucked. But check your fluid level and see if it is still that reddish color. Your transmission could be slipping as it heats up. But that's just what I can come up with using some logic and physics. Check the fluid before you do anything like taking it to a transmission shop.

Like said, check fluid. Level and condition. Any codes?
