Default Trouble hookingup evaporator core lines

I just replaced my evap core and I can't get the lines to hook back up!

needing done suggestions here, I don't want to damage a new core

When I have problems with those connectors, I spray some wd40 around the spring piece and then when I connect the lines, I push and rotate. Sometimes, gunk will get in there and keep it from seating.

How exactly is it not hooking up? Are the lines too big or too small, dont line up, or are they wrong type fitting? And like Turbo X_J posted, you sure its the correct part? Post a pic so we can see what youre seeing.
