Default Transmission trouble after harness swap. HELP

The harness on my brothers 98 limited 4wd was hacked to pieces. I pulled a beautiful harness out of a 99 classic 2wd. I sectioned out the 4wd wiring but i haven't repinned it yet. now the trans is slipping real bad from a stop. After it geets going it seems fine. By looking at the diagrams the only diff. i saw was the alternator and I have taken care of that. I need ideas

Try starting out in 1-2 rather than 3 or D and see if your "slipping" goes away. If it does, it means that the trans isn't choosing 1st when in 3 or D. If this is the case, check for the 10 amp fuse (for the TCU)in the power distribution box under the hood. If its blown, the trans won't shift electronically.

I have found two wires that are crossed from the 99 to 98 harness. they are the leak detection pump, and the batt. temp. sensor. I dont see how those relate but i am going to swap those and check. I will try shifting to manual 1st and see what that does too. thanks

Ok, so the wires for LDP and BTS are on a seperate harness. By shifting the trans manually it drives great. I am at a loss here. I have checked all the terminals from 99-98 and they are the same. The only thing is the connector at the trans range switch is tight as in there is very little slack in the wires, but it is making a good connection.

OK, so it seems to be an electronic issue. Do you have the AW4 manuals?

If not, PM me your email address and I'll send them as an attachment.
