Transmission/TCU ???
I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee, Auto, 4.0 inline 6,4x4 and the reverse when out in it. It is stuck in limp mode, so I replaced the transmission and it fixed the reverse but it is still stuck in limp mode. So, I unplugged the (TCM) Transmission Control Module and it works fine, now I just have to shift it manually. I got a set of scimatics and wire traced for months every wire is getting power and has ohms. I took my XJ to a friend that works at Chrysler and he hooked it to the computer. He said there is an open circuit that would not allow him to enter the transmission. So, I checked everything and it all pointed to the TCM. Now, I don’t know what year TCM I need because my XJ is a 93. But my AW4 transmission came out of a 1996 XJ. Does it matter? I don’t want to get the wrong TCM. So, does the year of the TCM have to match the year of the Transmission?
