So i didnt actually take the nss off yet, if i were to try i would probably screw something big time. But i unplugged the connector and it was perfectly fine. I also looked through all the wires around the tranny and nothing seems bad except for the pos battery cable is a little corroded but thats probabaly a different problem

Great haha I have the worst luck when it comes to working on complicated parts, something always breaks so I try to stick to the most simple things. Oh well, time to suck it up lol thanks for the help

This isn't the easiest or hardest thing to do... research will yield great instructions like this site:

Have done mine. Take your time. Don't rush. 1/3 of the overall time I spent was just getting it off the Jeep.
Helped but then some issue returned. I'm somewhat worried that my contacted have really been worn down since my Jeep has over 248K miles and the gunk inside mine was like dried up grease.
Good Luck.

So I got the part about 1/2 - 3/4 's of the way off and it the threading that holds the 7/8 nut broke off. There goes my budget for new tires, looks like I'm going to have to get a new nss for sure now

Man that blows. I also had part of those threads break. Just a small portion. Enough was still there to hold the nut tight. Once I got the thing off I couldn't believe the suggestion to pry it in ANY way. I wobbled that thing alot to get it off. I think the cheapest I found was ~ $130.00 from an on-line site. ALOT better than the $250.00 which was the most common price I found.

I tried prying it with just my hands and the thing wasn't budging. I went ahead and ordered a brand new one. My theory is that I plan on keeping this jeep for a very long time so I try to get the good parts even if they aren't in my budget. Atleast now with the new part I now for sure it'll work
Your solinoids are bad, your codes tell you that. Very easy to replace, hardest part was getting the transmission pan fill/dip stick tube to come apart to drop the pan all the way to change the filter while I had it apart. Seriously, you can do the solinoids in a few hours including draining if your fluid. Check around, I can't remember where I seen the link (it was here somewhere) for a link for the new solinoids, comes in a back of 3, and was a little over $200 bucks if I remember right, way cheaper than what autozone had them priced at.

So I got the new nss put in and it starts perfectly in park, reverse, and nuetral but it wont let me take my key out. Does require adjusting the nss or did something else break on me?
