Default Transmission slipping and throwing code

Like the title says, my transmission slips. I only noticed it today but I'm wondering if it was doing it for a few days and I didn't notice. It also threw the code P0715 input shaft speed sensor circuit.

It's a 2000, 4L.

When I checked the fluid level it was high, over the max line (warm engine and as level a ground as we've got here)

I drained and dropped the pan get over 4L of fluid out. It didnt look that bad, starting to go brown. the magnets had some filing on them but not much.

I haven't had it very long, but I'm sure I checked the trans fluid and didn't notice it to be over filled.

Questions: is there pump that can be replaced in it somewhere? (wondered if the issue was due to poor circulation of fluid resulting in the high level)
Is the code due to high engine rpm vs low speed due to slipping trans? or something else?

I was hoping to find a plugged screen. Nope, it was fine.

any other thoughts?

I'm hoping fresh fluids and it's ok...

I didn't get many replies.

I'll take a sec, though, and post my results.

new screen, fluid and Lucas Tranny fix. the improvement was immediate.
cleared the code and it didn't come back.
I've put 100km on it and feel the issue is solved.

One other note, I've seen a lot of posts indicating to cut the dip tube. don't do this. I live in Ontario...I have rust, parts seize. A couple of whacks with a hammer and a wooden dowel from the top and it just dropped off after I broke it loose with vice grips on the dip tube high enough that the tranny and floor of the car prevent it from turning with the pan and giving the pan a few twists. Easy!

One more thing...I plan to drain this fluid with my next oil change and refresh and I may again at the next oil change then leave it.

GLAD things are going well so far. If I were you I'd not wait until your next oil change to do your tranny. That's alot of miles(3000+?). If the fluid is pink now just watch for a color change then do it. Drain plug drain only. Should be about 3.75qts.
