Well I'm new to the forums so correct me on any mistakes i make here. Anyways moving on, i recently acquired a 1993 Jeep Cherokee sport. This morning on my way to school i noticed that my transmission wasn't shifting out of first gear. I wound up doing part of the drive there and back using the 1-2 and 3 gears. Any idea why this is happening? Ive heard that it may be the throttle positioning sensor. thanks in advance for any input.

It's the kick down cable. It runs from the throttle to the transmission. I don't think that's what's wrong with it. Those can go out of adjustment after a while. I would lean more to the tps though

I think you could have a shift control module malfunction. Module is probably on the right side fender in the engine compartment. Check to see if you have one also what's your fluid level look like
I'd start with the simple stuff. The Fuse for your TCU, and making sure the TCU has power and ground available at it's connector. Following that check the wiring from the TCU to the transmission itself.
