Default Transmission line fitting

Do I reuse the plastic clip (B) for the new line(A)? The new line looks like it has its own clips to avoid using the plastic piece but I’m not certain.
Thanks in advance!

So as usually I am confused.
The only place(s) that I know that white clip,B, exists is on the fittings on the tranny.
I only have messed with the lower line in my '00 so this one:

For the life of me I can't remember for sure if where the upper line connects to the tranny has the same fitting but pretty sure it does.
And the end of the tranny line, C, connects into that.
So trying figure out why you are asking if you need to use it.
Unless '96 is different.

Push them together. If it stays connected and is tight then you're good to go. If not, insert clip and try again.

The metal spring clip in the end of the line are all you need. You can toss that yellow clip into the parts box or throw it away.

Before pushing those lines together, consider cutting a small piece of emissions hose that fits around the line and into the fitting. Snug enough to stay in place. This will help keep the connection clean should it ever need to be taken apart again.

They do fit but slightly looser than the original line so just wanted to confirm before fluid shot out.

My Jeep has two or three of those clips on the line but looks like the new lines did away with them and adopted the kind you need a disconnect tool for.

The new lines are in and connected at the transmission side and the radiator side but they do not line up anywhere near the 3 brackets that hold them.

Here is where the line is and the clamp where it should be about 4 inches away. I can force it over but that puts the lines and the plastic quick connects under a lot of tension. The lines are routed as shown in the fsm, minus that the lines bends don’t perfectly match like shown.

A nuisance, but I would cut some metal extension straps, drill the needed holes, and connect with nuts & bolts, seems like the best thing to do

zip ties will also work

Sure you got the right lines? The part numbers are different depending on whether it's a 4.0 or 2.5.

New lines usually need some tweaking to fit and follow the same path as the originals. I ran into the same thing with my 97. My lines are Dorman. One was bent a bit to fit into the box, but needed very little work to be correct. The other needed the same at the transmission fitting. The short one at the radiator needed a slight twist and a small adjustment in the bend as it was too sharp.

Got them all connected and let it run for awhile with no leaks then drove 2 hours to a car show and two hours back and notice that my lift gate is covered in oil vapor as well as the underside and rear axle… return line is leaking at the transmission quick connect. Not sure what the next move is.

I'd guess a damaged o-ring. There is hardly any pressure in the return line, as it just dumps into the pan.

I'll repeat the usual cautions if you remove the fitting into the trans. It's easy to cross-thread or over-torque it and break the aluminum boss it threads into.

I just replaced the fittings into the transmission and they don’t look to be leaking. I don’t remember there being an o-ring for the quick connects, is it deeper/behind the plastic connector?

Should be 2 o-rings in there, IIRC. They are at the other end. Pull the fitting out and you can get to them.
