transmission jerk

Default transmission jerk

ok this has been happening since i purchased it.. when from a dead stop and accelorating normally i feel a jerk as it shifts out of 1 or 2nd gear im hoping i dont have to rebuild it..could it be something small?

My Trans Am does the same thing when it's cold. It'll wake you up in the morning.

If you're saying it clunks when you start from a dead stop, try pulling the rear DS and lubricating the splines and the slip yoke.

yea it will like jerk into place when i accelorate it feels like i took it to the off road shop and had them look at it they said its normal for them to do this but still wasnt sure so i wanted to get other ppl who drive cherokee input on it..the gears dont slip it just jerks..

It's a very easy fix. Takes 10 minutes to drop DS and some anti-seize for the splines. It'll be done in 1/2 hour and cost a couple $'s. 8mm wrench for the 4 strap bolts, slide off shaft, lube, reinstall. Worked on mine, same problem.
