Default Transmission issue help me please

So I have 2000 jeep Cherokee xj rwd

I was driving her on the highway all was well until I got off the highway pulled over to charge my phone
when I went to pull off the jeep didn't want to take off for nothing I would hit the gas and nothing finally she took of but with little to no force

I turned her off for like 10-15 she made it 15 miles to my house I drove 60 on the highway when I got to the resindetial area I would be going 25 but once I pressed on the gas she didn't really want to change gears felt like she was slipping

she has almost 200,000 miles

idk what I should do

one mechanic told me to take it to him so he can take the oil pan out to change the transmission oil filter

what does my jeep family think

You should do a search here (or on google) for checking the level and condition of your transmission fluid. Free and easy. Then report back what you find.

Yep first things first. Check fluid level and condition. Next step I'd do IF tranny level is full is a drain and fill. maybe two. Do not take it in to have it "flushed". Just drain and fill. DO NOT pay a mechanic to change the trans filter. it is not your issue and isn't really a filter at all. Simply a mesh screen to keep large debris out.

solenoids probably need to be replaced along w/ the fluid change.
