I have a 93 cherokee, it is a 5 speed. I have no idea how to check my transmission fluid. Is it under my hood or is it somewhere else?

 

Manual transmissions do not have a dipstick. You will need to get under the vehicle and check the fluid much like you do for a differential. Remove the plug (NOT THE DRAIN PLUG) and stick your finger in to see if you feel fluid just below the plug.

 

Crawl under the jeep. You should see 2 plugs on the side of the tranny. Take the top one out, stick your finger in there and feel for fluid. If you can reach fluid your golden, if not add some. If you want to change the fluid simply remove bottom plug. Good luck!
