I need to drain and refill my transmission fluid on my 4.0L aw4 2000 jeep Cherokee.

I understand everyone says valvoline max life Dex/merc high mileagle.

I have been to over 8 stores that claim they have it, only to find they have valvoline max life full synthetic multi vehicle ATF, Which states on the jug that it is recommended for dex/merc, mercon LV etc.

Is it safe to use instead of the high mileage? Is it the same thing?

The Aisin-Warner AW4 requires Dexron/Mercon III only.
The NAPA house brand is good product.

Correct. Stay original.

I use SuperTech Dextron VI in mine. I'm going through the drain-and-fill procedure on my '92. I also use it in my transfer cases.

 

I cannot find just Dex/merc or Dex 3

 

Valvoline DEX/MERC is good as well.

Don't use Dexron VI

 

Dextron VI is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

 

Do you have an Advance Auto Parts near you? Their house brand DEX/MERC will work.

Read the back label on these products. It should state that it conforms to Dexron III/Mercon.
