Default Transmission Fluid Pump

I am certain my 98 xj is in need of a transmission fluid pump. I have no line pressure. I can't seem to find a part number or any place that sells the pump, so if someone could point me in the right direction, it would be a lot of help!

How do you know you have no line pressure?

Maybe it's your torque converter not driving your transmission pump.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I thought at first that it was the torque converter, so I replaced that and I still don't have any pressure so I figured that replacing the pump is the only thing left to do.

By saying you don't have any pressure, does this mean the Heep won't move when you manually select any gear? Or did you measure the pressure at the test port?

Is the throttle valve cable connected at the TB and inside the transmission.

Well, both actually. We tested at the test port to confirm our suspicion but the jeep won't move at all when manually selecting any gear. The cable is connected on both ends.

Shop for a replacement transmission. Like you, I can't find a pump on the market (but I didn't look very hard).

I'm with Ken, shop for a trans, but I still have one question, with three parts(LOL)
1) Is the pump "whining"?
2) Did you check to see if the power valve was stuck in the valve body bore?
3) Did you check to see if the valve body upper plate gasket was damaged?

and one more thing, how many miles on the trans? Fluid burnt?

The pump isn't whining, but there is a faint knocking noise coming from somewhere in the bell housing (not loose flex plate bolts).

The power valve is not stuck in the valve body bore, and the upper plate gasket didn't appear to be damaged.

The trans is the original one with about 215xxx miles on it, and the fluid did have a slight burnt smell, however it was visibly the correct color.

I might have to just shop for a trans, but I have a few people I can call because I work for a parts distributor. I'm hoping someone can find me a pump.

Good Post...
I am curious what the pressure should be?
Can anyone advise on what psi should measure at the outlet line from the AW4 transmission?

That's measuring at the test port on the side of the trans. Not the output line to the cooler, which drains back into the pan. Is there a reason you're wanting to measure it?
