Default Transmission dead?

Could this be why my 2001 Cherokee Classic 2wd won't move? Like it's stuck in neutral. Hanging down from tranny, where's it go?

I didn't know the 2001 XJ had round pin connectors. Humm

Is there any fluid in the transmission? If so, is it black or does it smell burnt?

Default fluid

yes, fluid showing full reddish pink. Heard a constant whirring noise like a swarm of bees on warmup. Later that evening it wouldn't move.

Sounds like your torque converter may be shelled out.

Do this cold fluid level check as stated.

If the fluid does not drop to near the bottom of the dipstick there's a possibility that the torque converter went south, or the transmission oil pump went south.

Fluid level appeared to drop from slightly over MAX to half way down to OK. So, not that drastic of a drop. Still nothing on the mysterious pin connector?
