Transmission cooler

Transmission cooler
hello every one ,
i own Jeep xj 99 , where i love the weather temperatures is so high it's about range between 95F to 113F and more in summer so i deiced install transmission cooler cuz when i got my xj it's didnt have one , only the main radiator my question is , when i install it , keep it work with radiator or separate and make the transmission cooler only work with transmission , no radiator direction ,,
can you help me guys , and thanks

I have installed tranny coolers on several vehicles. I always just bypass the the radiator cooler. That way you get the hot tranny fluid out of your radiator. Never had any problems doing it this way.

does that not effect on transmission , the lines directly from transmission to transmission cooler ,

1. Your cooler must be able to cool the trans by itself since you do loose the cooling ability of the rad trans cooler (really a heat exchanger), if you're using a decent plate and fin cooler such as the B&M 70264 (14K BTU) or 70268 (13K BTU) which are commonly recommended for the XJ you should be fine.
2. If you live some place that gets below freezing regularly you will want to either keep the rad in the loop or use a thermostat, as the rad trans "cooler" also helps heat the fluid to get it up to temp in the winter.
