Default Transmission codes & NSS

I have 97 4.0 4wd XJ and I recently cleaned my Neutral Safety Switch because It was getting hard for it to start in Park. 30 miles after cleaning the switch my check engine light came on with codes P0700 and P0705, and after researching it, I read its the NSS again.I also lost my overdrive. Well when I checked the NSS I happened not to have tightened the 12mm bolt all the way that stopped the NSS from moving back and forth. I tightened the bolt and I still had the Check Engine light but now I got my overdrive back. So I cleaned the NSS again to double check I did everything right and double checked all bolts were tight. Once again I get the same codes. Car runs great and my overdrive does work. I disconnected the positive on the battery and the light went away but it comes back after about 30 miles. I am wondering could the NSS be bad? Can those codes mean anything else? I'm confused. Any suggestions? Thanks alot.

I'm going through the same thing - I cleaned my NSS - everything shifts good - runs fine but no cruise control - and I get a P0700 error - I got my backup lights working again - everything is good now except no cruise - can't figure it out

I ended up cleaning the NSS again but this time took my time and used sandpaper to clean all connections and then applied dielectric grease. I then reset the ECU and it went away. Make sure that both bolts that are on the transmission are tightened well.
