I just changed my transfercase and now I have a leak that I can't find. If there is not a hose hooks to the vent will it push some fluid out. The case I pulled out didn't have a hose on it but it had a hole in it from being towed wrong. Also I can't seem to get it in 4 lo. Part time full time and 4 hi no problem. The linkage isn't binding or bent seems like the lever is out of travel. Thanks

Here's a pic of a 242 TC showing the location of the vent tube fitting (the cap is for storage). The vent fitting will be in the same place on a 231.

Are you sure that "hole" isn't where the vent fitting goes.

Shift tranny to Neutral before shifting TC to Low. Or, the linkage needs adjustment. But before doing that, shouldn't you be concerned about a hole in the TC?

I have replaced the transfercase there is no hole now. There also was no vent on either transfercase. There is a small elbow on the top drivers side looks like for a hose. I'm on my phone can't get a good signal to see your picture will look when I get home.
