transfercase problem

From: Olean NY where salt eats jeeps

Engine: 4.0L
i got a new jeep today and last week i test drove it and the transfer case worked it did engage. I picked it up today and the lever wont move back. It seemd like its locked up. anything i should look at to fix it?

Undo linkage from shift lever on t case and manually try to shift it from underneath, try jacking up one of the front wheels and while its in the air shift it. My 231 will bind up and that's what I have to do. If neither works then its probably your shift fork

IK last week when we test drove it in 4x4 it made a clunk coming out of 4x4. i have my other 1995 cherokee i kept for parts for my new one so i was just seein what all i could try to fix this haha

Well i tried it again tonight. now im stuck in 4wd. the lever is down in 2wd position.
