Default Transfer case replacement

I have a 92 jeep Cherokee, auto, 4.0. It had the 231 transfer case in it and it blew up, cracked in half so it needs a replacement. I've been hunting for a "new" one for a cheap price and I was wondering if the 231 transfer case out of a 89 with an auto tranny would fit?

Thanks all!

This question has been answered so many times on cherokeeforum, but WTH, here's one more time.

See here for compatibility: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge...nput_gears.htm

See here for the NV231 general knowledge page: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np231.htm

In order to search the forums, you will find a search tab on the black toolbar, right in the center. Press that button and enter your search string. You can also search the forum through google. Good luck!

Hey, sorry to be that guy to ask it again then :/, so after reading that it looks they won't work because the input is a 21 spline and I need the 23 for my post 90 car.

correct, you'll need a 23 spline transfer, next issue is determining input length.. but if you get another from same transmission your generally ok.
