transfer case problems

ok so my mechanic just informed me that my jeep is sometimes going into 4 wheel drive by itself! he said something like the lever that engages it inside the transfer case is probably worn down or something like that. any ideas or solutions would be great!

the linkage is probably out of adjustment and is barely disengaging 4wd. Should be a relatively simple fix.

Engine: 4.0L I6 HO, Lot's of Bolt Ons

Is the 4wd light turning on? Disconnect the linkage on the t-case. Manually move it 2 the 2wd position on the TC and the shifter. Then hook the back up. This will ensure that you linkage is hooked up properly and that you arent getting hung up.
