transfer case problem

transfer case problem
i have a np231 transfer case and my front drive shaft makes a lot of noise. i thought it was my u joints but when i shook the drive shaft the front of my transfer case is loose. the knuckle on the transfer case is loose. theres a nut inside of it, i tried tightening it but it didnt work. anybody have an idea what could be wrong?
