Default Transfer Case Issues

I have an extra 88 xj NP231 Tcase and my buddy just broke his np231on his 92 YJ. Will my NP231 off AW4 auto tranny fit his AX15 5speed NP231?

no they wont. pre 90 xj's has 21 spline t-cases. Unless your buddy has a 4 banger tj it wont work

If you get it to bolt up, it will hang down on the YJ. The cases are clocked differently

since hey are both 231, open them up and swap the broken parts so you have your correct case. then you can get the proper spline counts and all that stuff
