Transfer Case Has 2 Holes on Driver's Side
I am wondering if anyone can help me or has any insights. I just took my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport for a routine oil change and my mechanic told me (and showed me) two holes on the transfer case that he says came from inside the case, not from an external source.
He patched it with JP Quick, and says that it could easily leak again. He is saying to watch it and if it leaks, I will need to replace the front end.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I am befuddled as to what inside of the transfer case could have the blown holes. It sounds strange and impossible.
Any further suggestions as to what I should do?
Thanks so much. Happy New Year.

Sounds like your transfer case chain has stretched and it rubbing a hole in the casing. Time to rebuild the tcase.
You won't need to replace the front end at all.

Thanks
Thank you for the quick replies. I will try to get under the car and take a photo. I don't have anything to jack it up with.
If anyone has any other thoughts, please share them.
Thanks, everyone!
