transfer case front shaft noise
first of all this my first cherokee so please forgive me for any stupid questions .so bought this a few day ago and i here noise what seems to sound like dragging of something but there is nothing so was told about tthe front shaft if not lube it will not move and make noise so took front shaft out and shaft is ok .but when i spin tne front output of transfer case it seems like the noise how noise r they suppose to be or is it broke ???? Fluid full also when u come to stop and it settle back there also a clunk the jeep looks like it was takin care of but???its a 2000 cherokee 231 transfer case automatic i know thet are chain driven but seems noise to me please answer thanks mike

Yea, front diff needs to have oil. If you have the front shaft out you could check the splined shaft there out of the t-case and see if it wobbles. As far as the clunking I might jack it up and check the wheels, tug them up and down, side to side and look for play, first. Then with the shaft in turn forward and back and look for play there. Might be the diff, or U-joints ect. That might be a start.
