Default Transfer case fill plug stuck and rounding

Went to service my t-case today and the fill plug will not budge. Any opinions on how to remove? I was originally using a socket and a wrench, but now its too rounded for either.

Tried vise grips and they just slip off. Before I do any more damage is there any suggestions?

I am about to take it in to a pro and have them do it. The last time it was serviced was about 7 years / 40k ago.

No PB Blaste, however it did cross my mind. I thought that was only for rusted parts?

So hit the head of the plug with a hammer? I dont have a torch, would a heat gun help?

Hopefully its not too late for the plug, too bad we cant set back the clock

Whats the worse case scenerio of the plug gets completely mangled?

Hit it with some PB. Here's a pic of its current condition.

use a pipe wrench if you round it to much.

you need to be using a box wrench or 6 point socket on plugs. It looks like you hit it with a crescent or open ended wrench of the wrong size. A pipe wrench may mangle it further. Good luck.

X2 on the six point socket, it shouldn't slip at all. The pipe wrench will make it worse, at this point it doesn't look all that bad.

I have been using a 30 mil socket and wrench, however they are both 12 point and worked for the first few times, but now just slip as there isnt much to grab onto (prior mech torqued the hell out it).

So is a 30 the right size or is it smaller? I remembered buying the 12 point for my last Jeep as a 6 point wasnt available.

I will let it sock with PB for about 24 hours and spray it again.

After you either heat it or pb it,put pressure on it to loosen it then while holding pressure on it tap the bolt head with a hammer.a brass one if you got it.
