transfer case 4wd hi not working

transfer case 4wd hi not working
so the other day i tried putting it in 4 hi and all i got was a grinding noise when i let the clutch out but 4 lo still works
i also have had a slow leak in the case for a while too and was wondering if i should just tear it apart and rebuild it or get a new tcase
it is an np231 tcase on a 95 xj 5 speed btw
