Default trans harness wiring different based on year?

I believe the auto trans swaps from 90-01 years correct? If so I thought the trans harnesses would also be the same. I am putting a 96 eng/trans into a 00. However the connectors for the harness are not matching up with the 00 harness. The connectors for the trans are zip tied to the dip stick on the passenger side. On the 96 where the ignition harness plugs in is where these trans connectors (8 pin plugs) connect.

it's 98-01 trans that have the same connectors.

There is a detailed thread somewhere. Not sure which forum though. I believe it's 98-01 as stated, that are the same. Something about 97 being an oddball and I think there were 2 other variants prior to 97. Can't remember which were able to be made usable by swapping connectors and whatever.

Looks like 87-97 will not work in 98-01. Sorry to bring the bad news. It would but with way too much work. Used aw4's are everywhere at least.

Yea I see that. Damn, wish I would have known before i put the engine and trans in the jeep. Easier to split outside of it. Luckily I got a guy who has one for $100. Cant beat that. Thanks for the link and help!
