tranny wont shift out of first gear automatically or manually

Transmission isn't shifting out of first gear when driving
I have a 96 or a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and all of a sudden it isn't shifting out of first gear when driving I know the transfer case is going bad the linkage in it what could be the problem for it not shifting out of first

see if your transmission input/output speed sensors are working correctly. Symptoms of a bad one often include being stuck in 1st gear. Have you tried everything mentioned in this post? DO you have any codes?
