Default Tranny removal questions.

I have a 96 xj sport and its equipped with an ax-15. I was removing it to replace the clutch and I am having the worst time backing it out (the tranny). I have a 3 ton floor jack holding up the tranny and I was wondering if I should put something under the oil pan to hold it (the engine) up, as well. Also on my to-do list is to replace the oil pan gasket and rear main seal. Is there something else that I need to buy or do I just support the engine up and then my tranny will slide out.

Should I remove the rear cushion mount from underneath my tranny? Any other suggestions? For posterity's sake, I have 274,000 miles.

Just to knock out the obvious, I've already dropped my drive shafts.

Also, I bought Royal Purple 75w90 to replace my tranny fluid. Any observations on that choice?

use a small piece of 2x4 like a 10" piece and your bottle jack under the back of the oil pan. I put just a little pressure on it, it stops the engine /trans from binding.

I got the tranny out. I didn't realize that there were mounting bolts on the plate facing the engine. Like a dumb ***. Now, my question is how do you torque the flywheel bolts to 105 lbs? Hell, getting those bolts out is easier than putting them back in. Bought a new (Luk) flywheel. Any suggestions?

Worst part is that you have to grab the flywheel at exactly the "opposite" torque or more the torque that you're applying to the flywheel bolts. Got them to at least 80 lbs. Decided to take the rest of the night to slumber on it and let my triceps and chest rest as I'm pretty exhausted after removing them. What a pain in the rear. Want to make sure that I'm doing it exactly to specifications, otherwise, what's the point?
