Default Tranny not shifting when it should

Today i noticed while driving home from work that the tranny doesn't shift when it should. Fotunately this occured very close to home so i felt comfortable experimenting. It revs higher than it should then up shifts as I accel. Although it it should have shifted much sooner. i found that if i feather the throttle i can usually get it to shift when i want it to. Now just last weekend i replaced the water pump but i dont recall messing with anything than may affect the tranny. Now i've had this rig for 2 years, its a '95 with 155k on it. I should probably do a fluid/filter job on it. Your thoughts?

bet $100 bucks its the throttle position sensor.

needs to be adjusted or replaced, and you'll be running great again.

Adjust the throttle pressure cable, AKA the kick down cable. Do a search on this site for the factory instructions.

After some searching i see these are water sensitive. After the H2O pump replacement yesterday i did hit th engine with some degreaser and the pressure washer. I suspect i wasted TPS myself. After i replace it will I have to adjust it? If so, how?

BTW, where is the TPS located? i haven't looked for it yet. Just thought I'd ask.

I will also do the cable adjustment when I'm in there.

It is on the back of the throttle body. It attatches to the shaft that runs through the throttle body that the butterfly is attatched to. The end of the shaft sticks out of the TB and goes into the TPS... 2 bolts and a plug and it's off.
