Default Tranny Messing up? or just a jeep...

When i shift into drive from neutral my cherokee lurches forward when with a pronounced BUMP! A little rough. My question, is it suppossed to be a little rough when going in gear? its a ballsy tourque monster compared to the little 4 bangers with manuals i have owned previous and that's the only thing i have to compare it too.

also, what's the service interval for changing tranny fluid?

It sounds normal except for the bump noise. Motor mounts may need replacing.

The bump sound isn't normal, probably u-joints or a bad mount like the others have said. Having it try to move forward though, that's normal.

I usually change my Trans fluid every 30,000 and filter once a year just to be safe...Tj

Also it made a humming noise at high speeds not too loud could be something to help diagnose the problem
