I have a 1995 4.0 straight 6 and i keep getting different answers, im wondering what type of fluid and how much to use in my automatic transmission. I figured I better ask you guys because the guy at the parts store looked at me like i asked him the meaning of life or something when i asked. Thank you!

If you have AW4 auto trans, takes dexron3 trans fluid (or dex6 if you're feeling fancy) and i cant remember if its 4 or 6 quarts with pulling the drain plug and just dumping the fluid.
Do NOT use atf+4 !!

Thank you guys! When the sales people are *****ing at each other about what kind of fluid to use it puts a big uncertainty in my head. And if I wanted to do the transfer case what would be going in there? Just a qt of the same?

95 XJ auto trans is AW4, there was no other auto trans option.

DEX3/MERC only for AW4. Drain and fill only, no flush or filter change needed, start with 4 qts, but drive for 15 miles, put in park then shift through all ranges then back to park, check level, add as needed. From the FSM

Never listen to the counter jockeys, unless you KNOW you can trust them.

TC uses the same, and drain/fill as well. Fill to the top of the fill plug, like the diffs.

Insure that you can remove the fill plug on the transfer case before draining the fluid.
