Tranmission cooler line connector help!!
I have a 2001 xj that was dumping a lot of trans fluid when running removed and replaced the the part (doorman 800-714) but I noticed the connector just spun freely and never snugged up. I tried some loctite but even after a 24hr cure I'm still leaking pretty bad. I really don't want to swap the trans. This is my first xj and I just want her to stop bleeding. What can I do?

If it never snugged up then it’s probably stripped threads. Locktite is for securing threads not for sealing. JB wield would be a better bad option (but probably won’t work). The better way would be to drill out the old treads and tap new threads to a size of another fitting that has larger threads but the same hose connector. If you try JB wield first make sure you clean everything first to give it a chance to stick.

Loctite 565 may be worth a try... On the flip side, Murphy dictates that is going to happen at the worst possible time and transmission fluid is surprisingly flammable.
An aftermarket M14 x 1.5 adapter fitting may fit better. If not, having a custom adapter made with slightly oversized threads may not be too unreasonable...

I would remove the quick disconnect and inspect the female threads in the trans (drop it down a few inches for a proper inspection.
I personally would not want to tap that, only as a last resort, but it is soft alloy, so a decision has to be made
specialist Loctite would be my try, maybe one that needs heat to unlock
I would use the barb fitting (I have a pic and writeup somewhere, type in "M14 x 1.5 with 3/8" barb" into search XJ
It must be rock solid in there, as pressure can spit a thing right out of skanky alloy threads (ie spark plug)
Also, I know you have replaced yours, but 25+ yr old plastic gets brittle, and will in fact give up on you one day. (the tab that locks it in splits)
In the meanwhile, carry plenty of trans fluid
I am glad I got rid of all the factory rubber, the other quick disconnects rubber lines also go bad) kept the steel, have a much larger trans cooler and a temp gauge ( a very needed mod if you live in a hot climate, tow, or go wheeling)

Tapping new threads into the case if you have access for a barbed fitting would likely be the best solution, then run a short length of transmission cooler-type rubber line with clamps to the existing steel line.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.
