Default TPS high voltage

Does anybody else's TPS read higher voltage then it should? Cause rough idle some times? Can't figure it out and don't know what to do.

Not really much to go by "TPS High Voltage".

High voltage at idle or at WOT?

How did you determine there is 'high voltage'?

Did you do these tests? If not do them. I recommend using a safety pin as a back probe.

Pic shows back probing a MAP Sensor using safety pins. Same method can be used on the TPS.

The OEM part number for a 2000 TPS is 4874371AC.

I do not recommend BWD TPS'. They consistently read high at idle.

Just a basic voltage test but it was also unplugged and I took the reading straight off the sensor I will have to try the paper clip idea

If you were reading 6.65 volts at the connector pin cavity with the Orange wire you do have an issue. It should only be 5.5 volts max. If you are reading that voltage at another wire let us know.

Do you have cruise control?

I do not have cruise control and I was told the same thing and it was the orange wire, do you know the issue or solution? I appreciate all the help!

Check the voltage at the orange wire at another sensor, like the MAP sensor, and see if the voltage is high there as well.

Not necessarily. There may be a chafed 5 volt supply wire that is shorted to another higher voltage power wire.

Check the other sensor Orange wires.
