Ok guys i know were all XJ lovers but i gotta to help out my buddy who has a 98' TJ and he says when hes driving mostly in secound it surges the motor just cuts in and out. Now im taking it into my auto tech shop tomarrow so we can take a better look at it but i was wondering if anyone had anyone had any idea why it would be doing this?

Anyone? I was thinking maybe trans. but im not sure

Just curious did he have any CEL codes when this was going on??

 

I would have thought Throttle Position Censor...

 

we ran the scan tool on it and the TPS and CPS both came up just the CPS is more commen so were gonna look at that one first cause its voltage readings are way messed up then if it still has an issue we'll get a new TPS
