Default Tire wear and steering

I'm driving a 98 sport. The front tires are unevenly worn with the drivers side being nearly balled. I know I need an alignment done but I'm waiting until I install my lift and put new tires on after Christmas. What I'm wondering is, when I turn left it almost feels loose. When I turn right I feel like I'm getting the proper amount of resistance but left feels like if I wasn't careful I could over steer. Could it be just the uneven wear and being out of alignment? If there's something else I should be looking into id like to do it while I'm underneath working on the suspension.

Well, if you're installing a lift kit, you're going to need an adjustable track bar and possibly a drop pitman anyway, so I guess that's good...

Get under there with a helper in the cab. Keep it parked on the ground and have them steer back and forth for awhile, and get a good look at all your moving parts - TRE's, pitman, trackbar, drag link, etc. My guess is you might be seeing some slop in your track bar. If so, you're swapping out with an adjustable anyway.

I wouldn't waste much time on trying to help a tire wear problem when it's already known to need an alignment, though. Get it aligned asap - I know you're waiting on a lift kit, but continuing to drive as it is could shake down more components and wear them even more, and obviously balding tires are a safety hazard as well.

What I would do is at least install an adjustable track bar for now, I'm pretty sure most of them can be used (non-extended) for stock ride height, so just do that for now and then just extend it when you get your lift on. Also if you need new tie rods and/or you want to throw in the dropped pitman arm (if you are going to use one) do them too. After that, get it aligned. It'll buy you however much time you need before putting on the lift kit. You may wind up paying twice for alignments but oh well.
