Cob24, did you ever finish this project? How did it turn out? What did you end up using?

Just an FYI, cause I don't think it was mentioned yet. A WJ Grand Cherokee tie rod and drag link will not work. The knuckles, tie rod, and drag link are all different. I have been told you can swap knuckles and steering components from a WJ and it is a big improvement (like a high steer setup), but I am not sure exactly what that involves.

I finished. I got the tie rod and drag link out of a zj, i think it was a 90. It was easy, just hard to find the replacement parts from auto zone. It went in and was even easier to allign than before. It's solid too, weighs much more than the XJ tierod. The thing im having problems with is replacing the grease boot on the drag link side. Its torn and right now Ive just added gasket sealer to it but the grease comes out so i have to grease it weekly

Then it was a 93 or 96. When I went I made sure to have pics of the right one too. I do know it was a zj and not wj though

So did the Auto Zone part numbers work out? or were they not correct?

I saw those dust boots there at autozone and didnt think that they would fit. Has anyone used them? Also does anyone know if they would work on the draglink too? THose can take grease as well?

I would suggest getting some nicer polyurethane boots. The ones from the auto part store will crack quickly.
