i just got my prothane kit in the mail and i was going to replace my tie rod ends on my cherokee and the prothane kit comes with new tie rod end bushings. do i need to buy new tie rod ends and use my bushings or can i just use my new bushings and not have to get new tie rod ends?

If it is the bushings that are bad then yes this will fix em. If the rod ends themselves are bad new bushings will not fix them.

 

how do i know if the end itself is bad?

 

Easy have someone turn the steering wheel from 10 to 2 o'clock and you watch them for play. If the rod ends move or wiggle where they mount replace them. If they are original and have never been replaced replace them.
